Race the Place
Team iBike headed out yet another road trip to Toronto for the second edition of Red Bull Race the Place. This is a very unique race as it sees both road and track cyclists racing head to head on a very technical closed circuit. Being predominantly a fixed gear team, Team iBike raced all riders in the fixed category including 3 girls.
After qualifications, Josh Tyrrell was 3rd overall and Josh Gieni was 7th overall advancing directly to the finals. Carol Poole, Paula Manzano and Marc Seguin all race the last chance race and qualified themselves for the main event. There were 6 fixed cyclists that qualified for the main event and 5 of them were iBike riders. Josh and Josh went on to finish 1-2 in the fixed gear category and 4th and 12th overall. Marc was on the bubble for a Team iBike podium sweep in 4th place. Paula and Carol would have been 1-2 if there were a women’s fixed podium – the girlzzz were not too happy with the sportswomenship of the female road cyclists, nor were they too happy about the unequal status of the men’s and women’s races (but that’s a whole different story!).
The team and the 12 peeps that accompanied the trip represented Montreal, France, and Mexico with pride. The team is already excited about another trip to T.O next year!
